2007/10/16 Minutes:
“A June event is planned to coincide with the opening of the new splash pad at the South East Optimist Park. Sally will give us tentative dates of when the splash pad will be opening. There is a funding application in the works. Joy will contact Mark Hollywood at the Glen Cairn Baptist Church about the event. Don will contact Mark Cuthbert at the Summerside Community Church. Still need to contact Chalmers Presbyterian Church and the Summerside Optimists about this event. Tentative events: cultural groups; “wheelie” parade- Roger Caranci and Cheryl Miller judges; tree planting (TD Canada Trust); balloons/bubbles; food (Starbucks, cotton candy, popcorn, strawberry social, pop/chip wagon); different groups will be in charge of different events/food. Let’s get out there and get our neighbours involved. They probably have excellent and exciting ideas! Sally suggested that we must decide whether this event will be a fundraiser or a fun raiser. Barb will look after the rider on the insurance.”
2007/11/20 Minutes:
“Opening of splash pad and community festival will be held July 12th in the park behind the car wash on Pond Mills Rd. Will need to know how park will be laid out for the entertainment, food, and other activities. There will be subcommittees set up for volunteers and any community members willing to lend a hand.”
